Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does Gridz run native on OS X?

A: Oh, yeah! Click here to upgrade.

Q: Is there a mailing list for Gridz?

A: Of course! In fact, there are two:

1. gridz-talk for questions and discussions about gridz
2. gridz-netplay for announcing when and where net games will be played

Q: How do I register my copy of Gridz so that I can get future upgrades for free?

A: You can either send us the reg card that came with the game, or do it right here.

Q: How do I get my 3 FREE net serial numbers or purchase additional ones?

A: Click here. Only registered users of Gridz can take advantage of this offer. To register your copy of Gridz, click here.

Q: How do I stop Gridz 1.3.1 (and earlier) from locking up with a black screen when quiting?

A: Turn off DrawSprocket. This is fixed in version 1.4 of Gridz.

Q: How do I use Gridz behind IPNetRouter or some other firewall?

A: To use Gridz behind IP network address translation, you need to set up a static port mapping from the UDP ports used by Gridz:

51906
51907
51908
51909

on your router to those same ports on the computer you're going to play Gridz on. In IPNetRouter, this is done in the Port Mappings window.

Q: There is a problem with the demo of Gridz on the December issue of MacAddict CD-ROM. How do I fix it?

A: The type and creator are wrong. In order to fix this problem:

1) Copy the Gridz Demo Installer to your hard drive

2) Using ResEdit or Snitch, change the type to 'APPL' and the creator to 'VIS3'.

3) Close the Finder window that the Gridz Demo is in and re-open it.

4) Double Click the Installer. It should work now.

Snitch is a useful extension that allows the above changes to be made in the "Get Info" window in the Finder. You can download Snitch here.

Q: No documentation came with the game or the demo. How do I play?

A: There are many help screens explaining how to play. The yellow arrows on the help screens are used to go to the next or previous pages.
